  State Day of Service

During our annual State FFA Convention, Louisiana FFA members give back to the host city by participating in our Days of Service.

The 2022 Day of Service registration is included with the convention registration.

Louisiana FFA is seeking students and teachers from across the state to uphold the gold standards that our organization is known for by taking part in one of the largest civic engagement events ever held within Louisiana FFA.
During the Louisiana FFA State Convention & Expo, one of the premier activities for young leaders to participate in is the annual Louisiana FFA Day of Service. The Day of Service will have a huge impact on the city of Alexandria and the entire state of Louisiana. While participating, FFA members will provide service to the community through a number of partnerships and FFA supporters. There are numerous opportunities for students to volunteer in the community.

A complimentary T-shirt will be provided for all participants!

The food bank of central Louisiana considers volunteers the heart of their operation. Their mission is to alleviate hunger in central Louisiana. FFA members will help by sorting items, packaging food “backpacks”, labeling cans, and working in the demonstration garden (dress comfortably for the heat).

In 2018, Louisiana FFA built and planted 14 planter boxes, filled them with summer annuals, and placed them around the downtown area. This year we will replace the topsoil and replant the boxes with fresh flower, and we will refresh the landscaping in the mini-park with summer annuals and mulch.

Arna Bontemps - a noted poet, author, anthologist, librarian - was born in Alexandria on October 13, 1902. He is credited with writing over 20 books, plays, and anthologies and was considered the leading authority on the Harlem Renaissance. The Arna Bontemps African American Museum and Cultural Arts Center is the acutal house in which he was born and raised. Louisiana FFA will be landscaping, painting, and adding lattice around the grounds of the museum on our day of service.
